Welcome to my first blog and also the first time working with Mums in The Know. My name is Andy Titterrell and I am a Professional Rugby Player along with a Strength & Conditioning Coach. Some of you may or may not follow rugby but it has been a part of my life since I was the age of 5 and after my first professional contract at Sale Sharks in 2001 I have now settled in Wilmslow with my family. I’ve had the privilege to represent England and also The British & Irish Lions and that achievement has driven me to accomplish more within my field and life.
I’m currently Captain of Leeds Carnegie where I am also The Lead Conditioner for the Senior Academy. Not only do I take care of my team but I also have the pleasure of working with other athletes and clients from very different backgrounds, businessmen and women and youth athletes for example.
During anytime of year it can be hard to stick to your training goals. Perhaps at the moment you’re demotivated because its coming to the end of January and you’ve failed on your New Year’s resolution to train twice a week in the gym. It’s difficult- our lives are filled with time consuming activities. Working, cooking, looking after the kids, running errands, meetings, the list goes on. And, if you do get to the gym, how long is an effective workout time? Are you in the gym for over an hour with very little structure? Do you find yourself doing the same exercises? Or frightened to try something different? You’re not seeing any change in weight, body fat, strength?
This is where I can help. You have to keep your body guessing, not just with the workout but also with your diet. Believe it or not it’s the choices you make with food that will determine your body’s shape and energy levels. Trust me, before I came to understand about training and diet I asked those questions to myself. That said, I never say don’t eat a pizza or a take a way but if you eat clean for 90% of the time, then you can treat yourself that other 10%. Mix in your training and you have an excellent combination, and one I’m sure you won’t go back on.
There are some major benefits to diet and exercise:
- Raises your metabolism
- Raises your energy levels
- Keeps blood sugar levels constant
- Increases Fat Loss
- Increases Fitness Levels
- Increases Strength Levels
- Decreases the risk of Injury
- Helps you sleep better
The list goes on!
Over the next month with the help of Mums In The Know, I will be publishing some suggestions as to how to make small changes to your lifestyle so that in the long run they will improve your current body image. I understand how difficult it is for Mums to find time to max out on an exercise regime, so this is about gradual steps. Plus, if you try and change too much at once its likely that you will fail as there are far too many variables to consider.
Help is at hand, if you want it?
